TEACHER, LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE - SPECIAL EDUCATION, MULTI-INTENSIVE, 6TH-8TH GRADE
About the role
A Long-Term Substitute is responsible for teaching appropriate grade level standard-based curriculum to students, following school/district approved curriculum while the classroom teacher is absent for an extended period of time.
Responsibilities
- Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
- Makes sure students follow school/district rules and behavior codes.
- Monitors and evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Presents subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology.
- Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
- Presents lessons to students, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning styles.
- Assigns, administers, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress.
- Reports grades using District software.
- Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license.
