Position Summary
Lawrence Public Schools is seeking a Kindergarten Teacher to join the Lawrence Family Public Academy team for the school year 2026-2027. This role is ideal for a bilingual and biliterate educator excited to co-develop a rigorous, inclusive, and culturally affirming dual language strand within a well-established school community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Planning and Preparation: Plan daily lessons for an 80/20 Dual Language program in Spanish
Implement American Reading Company (ARC) and Envisions Math curriculum
Maintain daily classroom structure and instructional schedule
Tailor instruction based on formative assessment data in both English and Spanish
Engaging Students in Learning: Use Depth of Knowledge (DOK) questioning techniques to promote critical thinking
Integrate SEI strategies to support dual language learners
Plan for frequent collaboration and student-led dialogue
Leverage data to develop targeted intervention and enrichment groups
Professional Practice: Participate in weekly PLCs, team time, and individual coaching cycles
Demonstrate a growth mindset and engage in mission-aligned professional learning
Maintain and update gradebooks in accordance with school policy
Congduct parent-teacher conferences twice per year (Fall and Spring)
Attend IEP, 504, and RtII meetings as needed
Support and engage in family outreach and school-based events
Participate in Science of Reading training and ongoing PD
Fulfill assigned supervisory duties (arrival, lunch/recess, dismissal)
Uphold and support all school policies and expectations
Perform additional duties as assigned by school or grade-level leadership
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken
Deep knowledge of dual language and bilingual instructional strategies
Familiarity with SEL and restorative practices
Ability to plan, differentiate, and scaffold instruction across content areas
Knowledge of ARC, Envisions, and Science of Reading preferred
Collaborative spirit and ability to contribute to a team-oriented culture
Strong communication and organizational skills
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive pedagogy
Reflective practitioner with a willingness to grow and adapt
Qualifications & Requirements
Valid Massachusetts Teacher License in Early Childhood Education or related field
SEI Endorsement
Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English
Demonstrated success working in diverse, urban school settings
Experience with or interest in co-teaching and inclusive practices
Strong commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration
