Teacher- Kindergarten and First grade - Anticipated Openings
Job Summary
As enrollment numbers continue to be finalized throughout the summer and the opening weeks of school, the district is proactively accepting applications for anticipated Kindergarten and First Grade positions. These opportunities are contingent upon final student enrollment and would be filled if enrollment warrants additional staffing.

The Classroom Teacher guides students toward achieving their full potential by transforming district curriculum standards into engaging and meaningful learning experiences. Through effective instruction and specialized assignments, the teacher promotes academic growth and personal development. This role upholds Chandler Unified School District's mission and vision by fostering an equitable, safe, and supportive learning environment that challenges and empowers all learners.
Responsibilities
- Communicates learning goals to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
- Prepares and delivers instruction appropriate to the student population, including curriculum that addresses learning styles, abilities, interests, behavior problems, and students with special needs
- Creates lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated with approved curriculum and State and District standards
- Uses available technology to enhance learning
- Uses district and state assessment data to improve instruction and place students in appropriate instructional and intervention programs
- Facilitates instruction based on current research-based best practices
- Effectively implements Individual Education Plans
- Establishes classroom routines to promote a positive environment conducive to effective instruction
- Participates in team reviews concerning the academic progress of low-performing students
- Documents and resolves issues related to student behavior problems and attendance
- Reflects on teaching and strives to improve professional competence
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintains accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Participates in the intervention process at sites
- Participates in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences
- Participates in school and District initiatives
- Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other planning and professional assignments
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education required to obtain Arizona Teaching Certification
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- SEI endorsement coursework completed
- Meets Certification Requirements outlined below: Possess one of the following valid Arizona Department of Education teaching certificates: Elementary Certificate, Early Childhood Certificate, Special Education Certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement - AND - Obtain one of the following endorsements within three years of certificate issuance: Literacy, K-5 Endorsement, Reading Specialist, K-8 or K-12 Endorsement

Pay
Base Salary: Minimum entry: $58,000.00 prorated based on FTE and start date
Potential compensation in addition to base salary: up to $5,400 in stipends prorated based on FTE and start date

Calendar: 1960 (NEW TO DISTRICT TEACHER)
Physical Requirements
- Positions in this classification often require physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, and sitting.
- The job involves finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), and focusing ability.
- Employees may be exposed to travel, odors, dust, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and loud noises.
- The work may require lifting or exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
