Teacher - Intervention Specialist

Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio certification/licensure as an Intervention Specialist.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education of Students with Disabilities or related field.
  • Knowledge of instructional best practices, specially designed instruction, and behavior intervention strategies.
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver specially designed instruction aligned to state academic standards, district curriculum, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Utilize district-approved high-quality instructional materials and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Provide instruction in inclusive, resource, or small-group settings based on student needs.
  • Create and maintain structured, supportive learning environments that promote engagement and independence.
  • Collect, analyze, and use student data to inform instructional planning and intervention decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant special education records, including progress reports and required documentation compliant with Ohio law and district requirements.
  • Communicate student progress to families at designated reporting intervals.
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Teach and reinforce appropriate social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
  • Use de-escalation and safety strategies to reduce disruptive behaviors and support student regulation.
  • Collaborate with teams to support behavior intervention plans and student success.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers to differentiate instruction and support inclusive practices.
  • Interpret student strengths and needs of staff to promote understanding and consistency of support.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, related service providers, and support staff to meet diverse student needs.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with families through ongoing communication.
  • Participate in intervention, evaluation, and IEP processes.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional demeanor when working with students, families, and staff.
  • Attend required meetings and professional obligations.
  • Arrive promptly and remain through scheduled work times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and the collective bargaining agreement, ensuring alignment with district goals and expectations.
