About the Role

The International Baccalaureate High School Lead Teacher functions as an academic leader in instruction and specializes in supporting teaching and learning. This role involves oversight and administration of a high school IB programme, collaborating with administration, academic department chairs, and IB teachers to ensure alignment with IB standards, academic goals, and curriculum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Leads the IB programme at the school level, serving as the chief point of contact regarding IB for all stakeholders.
• Works with central and school administrations to maintain the school's authorization with the IBO through IB's prescribed self-evaluation process.
• Serves as the liaison between the IBO and the school, disseminating information to teachers and students in a timely manner.
• Coordinates training opportunities for IB teachers and provides on-site support for classroom instruction.
• Registers students for IB examinations, submits IB internal assessment components, and administers IB examinations.
• Conducts regular meetings with IB teachers and provides support and information to teachers new to IB, especially in pedagogy and assessment.
• Ensures all students are clear about the requirements of the IB Diploma Programme and advises them on subject selection.
• Informs 9th and 10th grade students about IB requirements and accommodates transfer students, liaising with their former schools.
• Monitors students' progress and coordinates support for those experiencing difficulty.
• Provides comprehensive information to parents about the IB Programme, organizes parent meetings, and advises parents on the suitability of the programme for their children.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in education.
• Desired Master's degree in education.
• NC AIG Certification.
• NC Teaching License.
