Teacher, Healthcare - (2026-2027) - STEM/CTE Renewal

About the role

Provide quality Healthcare instruction aligned to state and federal requirements associated with Career & Technical Education (CTE) in the Healthcare-related career fields. Possible courses include but are not limited to: Anatomy and Physiology, Emergency Medical Responder, Healthcare Core Curriculum, or Medical Terminology.

Responsibilities

• Implement rigorous inquiry-based learning tasks to engage students in deep content of the healthcare industry.
• Utilize a variety of assessment strategies - diagnostic, formative and summative, to inform instructional decisions and increase student self-management of learning.
• Capable of applying the nursing process (assessment, planning, delivery, assurance and evaluation) to coordinated health care for individual students.
• As needed, assist Special Education teams to provide nursing assessments and recommended educational support services for special needs students enrolled in CTE courses.

Requirements

• Recent teaching or professional experience in Healthcare preferred.
• Preferred MDE Teaching Licenses For Each Program Of Study: 300300 Medical Careers license to teach in grades 9-12; or the appropriate qualifications for a CTE Tier 1 or 2 license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university OR equivalent knowledge gained through related industry experience.
• A valid License as a Public School Nurse from the Minnesota Department of Education.
• A valid License as a Registered Nurse from the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
• A Public Health certification from the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
• An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

Skills

• Knowledge of the goals of the Minneapolis Public School District Improvement Agenda and site/school goals.
• Ability to collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students.
• Ability to assess students' developmental, cognitive and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs.
• Ability to create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful and interesting as well as multicultural/gender and ability fair/developmentally appropriate.
• Ability to interpret health findings for educational staff regarding impact of health concerns on learning and accommodations required at school.
• Ability to perform skilled nursing procedures, and delegate nursing care procedures when appropriate (see delegation guidelines).
