Teacher - Head Start (Arlington)

About the role

We are seeking dedicated and passionate Head Start Teachers to join the NVFS Early Childhood Education / Head Start Center in Arlington. Head Start is a nationally recognized program providing comprehensive services to low-income children and families.

Responsibilities

• Lead classroom learning and implement daily lesson plans and individualized development plans
• Conduct developmental assessments (ASQ, ASW-SE, DECA) and track children's progress
• Build positive partnerships with families and provide ongoing feedback on child development
• Maintain health, safety, and compliance in the classroom and on field trips
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development to enhance classroom practices
• For teachers meeting both Head Start and Arlington County credentialing: Provide input and feedback concerning the job performance of Associate Teachers, Aides, Volunteers, and Interns. Oversee curriculum and quality of classroom and child outcomes. Conduct parent conferences and home visits; document attendance and meals.

Qualifications

• Ace an associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education
• Knowledge of infant and child development
• Ability to follow Head Start guidelines for working with children
• Oral and written fluency in English; oral fluency in another language a plus
• Attendance reliability
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build trust and nurture relationships
• Digital and technical proficiency including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules and policy and procedures manuals
