Teacher- Family and Consumer Science 6-8

About the role

Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and employs a variety of instructional techniques and media. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and intellectual level of the students.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a curriculum that addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
• Use a variety of teaching methods including lectures, discussions, group work, and technology-based instruction.
• Evaluate student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that respects and values diversity.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
• Valid Massachusetts teaching license or ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
• At least two years of teaching experience, preferably in a similar setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
