About the role

Under direction, through individual and group instruction, assists pupils to fulfill their capacities for mental, physical, emotional and social growth; uses teaching techniques appropriate to stimulate their abilities and interests; uses special instructional procedures as necessary to meet the individual needs of severely handicapped pupils.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university.
• California Teaching Credential authorizing performance of service within programs for Extensive Needs.
• Early Childhood Special Education Added Authorization (required for teachers providing special education services to children from birth through pre‑kindergarten).
• First Aid and CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment.
• Completion of the approved MCOE Crisis Intervention Program and maintenance of valid certification within six (6) months of employment for classrooms where students may require physical restraint.
• California driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
• Copy of transcript showing confer date, credential copy, letter of introduction, and résumé.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience working with children with extensive needs.
• Teaching experience in general education programs, elementary or secondary.
• Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish.

Pay

Salary range: $62,437.00 – $132,707.00 annually.

Additional stipend: $2,000 annually for a Master’s Degree; $3,000 annually for a Doctorate Degree.

Schedule

Full‑time, Monday‑Friday; 7 hours per day, 184 days per year.
