Department: Education & TrainingLocation: Education & Training Center (Boston)Compensation: $29.35 / hour Description YMCA of Greater Boston’s International Learning Center - ILC 100 Franklin Street Boston, MA 02110 Branch: Education and Training Position Title: ESOL Teacher Beginner – Advanced levels available, YMCA International Learning Center (ILC) Boston. Remote position Position Type: ESOL teacher ESOL Instructor position: all levels Pay include: Hours of instruction and lesson planning + teacher meeting (for long-term subs) Teaching remotely using Zoom and Google Classroom Come and make a difference in people’s lives! The YMCA ILC Boston has been helping immigrants learn English and develop employment skills to improve their lives for over 24 years. Key Responsibilities Be a substitute teacher for ESOL, Career Advancement, and English for Immigrant Entrepreneurs classes to adults of diverse linguistic, cultural, religious, socio-economic and educational backgroundsSurvey and incorporate adult learner goals into coursework for a student-centered and goal oriented ESOL classDevelop lesson plans and deliver engaging and contextualized lessons which integrate academic and employment skills utilizing the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)Provide a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters students’ language production. Select and adapt materials, educational apps, and web resources for Google Classroom and Zoom.Present clear content and language objectives to students for each class.Incorporate digital literacy skills into class content and coursework.Collaborate with Education and Career Advisor to ensure that all students are progressing with their personal, education, and career goals.Conduct formative and summative assessments regularly to evaluate students’ progressWork collaboratively with peers on curriculum review, common planning and program improvement Communicate classroom/student issues to Program Director in a timely manner Description of Administration:Keep accurate and timely attendance recordsProvide progress reports to students twice a year.Attending teacher meetingsDocument weekly lesson plans in Google drive. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Bachelor’s Degree required; Education background preferredTESOL, TEFL, TESL certificate preferredEligible to live and work in the USSensitive to socio-economic and ethnic minority issuesStrong communication skills, inter-personal skills, and classroom management skillsAble to participate in paid Professional DevelopmentAble to work independently and as part of a teamProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and ZoomComfortable learning and using web-based file storage i.e., Google Docs, SharePoint, etc.Eager to contribute to a collaborative working environmentBilingual a plus Benefits Why work at the Y?
