Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for Autism, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, EBD, Gifted, PLA, SLA, Physically Impaired, VE and PreK-Handicapped positions are as follows:

• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: None required.
• Salary is based on verified years of teaching experience.
• Certifications & Licenses: Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area.

ESE Position Experience & Certifications & Licenses

ESE Position Experience Certifications & Licenses ESE Certified Behavior Analyst Three (3) years successful teaching or work experience with students on the autism spectrum and/or students with behaviorally complex needs. Experience with special education and related services for students with disabilities. Board certification as a Behavior Analyst AND Florida Department of Education teaching certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education, Guidance and Counseling or School Psychology. Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement preferred. ESE Intervention Representative Five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience in exceptional student education or a combination of exceptional/regular education teaching experience. Background in behavior management techniques is strongly recommended. Florida Department of Education certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education, Administration/Supervision or Educational Leadership. ESE Lead Three (3) Years Experience Working With Students With Disabilities Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area. ESE Site Coach Three (3) years experience working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities/Autism. Certification in at least one area of exceptional student education (for Autism positions, Autism certification or endorsement required) and one area of a core content area or K-6 Certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of subject contentStrong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong time management skillsStrong organizational skillsStrong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skillsAbility to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of studentsAbility to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading papers, preparation of lesson plans, etc.Ability to manage studentsAbility to manage multiple tasks

Starting Salary

The starting salary for the teacher position is $48,700. Referendum money is available for the 26-27 school year only, starting at around $7000; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.
