General Summary
The teacher supports the Diocese of St. Augustine's mission to educate, evangelize, and catechize youth in a Catholic school environment. They recognize and support the unique Catholic mission of the school by aligning their actions and instruction with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with the principal to build the faith community, demonstrating faith through personal example and active participation in a faith community.
- Maintains physical and informational security at all times, respecting confidentiality and privacy.
- Adheres to all diocesan and school policies and regulations, supporting the school’s spiritual, pastoral, and educational mission.
- Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lesson plans aligned with academic and religious goals and objectives.
- Builds the school’s faith community by participating in and helping plan religious and service-related activities.
- Demonstrates and effectively communicates knowledge and competency of academic and religious curriculum, engaging and motivating students.
- Establishes a consistent classroom management approach that promotes self-direction and a positive self-image, managing student behavior effectively.
- Participates in continuous professional development as a lifelong learner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and registered member of a Catholic parish faith community (preferred).
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Must maintain Professional Educator certification in the State of Florida.
- Must have or be able to obtain within two years Basic Diocesan Ministry Certification.
- Ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic faith.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Passes the required criminal background check prior to employment and completes Protecting God’s Children (PGC) workshop.
- Proficient in use of computer technology, including school-related software.
- Flexibility in assessing needs and adapting strategies.
- Positive, friendly, respectful, and caring attitude with colleagues, the public, and all one serves.
- Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from various groups.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
