About the role
Legacy Early College is a K4–12 public charter school founded in 2009 with a “To and Through College” mission. The school integrates academics, nutrition, daily physical education, and social-emotional literacy, including on-site meal preparation and integrated SEL curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Provide English instruction to limited English proficient scholars
- Develop and implement instructional lessons aligned to scholars’ proficiency levels using WIDA English Language Development (ELD) and South Carolina content standards
- Provide ongoing feedback to scholars, the Multilingual Learner Program Coordinator, teachers, the principal, and parent/guardian
- Analyze scholar progress to identify areas for improvement
- Administer WIDA ACCESS for ELLs, South Carolina EOC/READY, benchmark, and other assessments
- Develop meaningful Individualized Language Acquisition Plans (ILAPs) for each ML scholar
- Conduct regular progress monitoring
- Maintain program documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, required
- South Carolina teaching certification in the served grade-level band, required
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) certification/endorsement, preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of successful lead teaching experience in an underserved community, preferred
- Experience working with multilingual learners, preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred
Schedule
Teachers follow the Legacy Early College academic calendar on a 195-day (10-month) schedule. Normal school hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:00 pm.

Physical Demands
