About the role

A teacher will perform effective teaching methods to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students. Candidates who can contribute to the district’s goals of excellence, equity, and inclusion are encouraged to apply and identify their strengths in these areas.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities.
  • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions.
  • Create and modify lesson plans throughout the year.
  • Grade papers and perform administrative duties as needed.
  • Stay abreast of current topics in education.
  • Utilize curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Use District curricula reflecting diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare and distribute parent communications.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom using appropriate strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must possess, or be in process of obtaining, a valid Colorado Educator License from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) within 30 days of hire.
  • Must hold the required license and endorsement, or meet highly qualified status via a CDE-approved content test or 24 semester hours in specific core content classes.
  • Preference given to candidates with ELL training and/or an ESL or Linguistically Diverse Education (LDE) endorsement.
  • All K-3 teachers and staff responsible for teaching reading must complete evidence-based training within 90 work days of start date (Colorado READ Act).

Pay

Salary placement on the Certified Salary Schedule is based on education and work experience, with one year of credit granted for each full year of contractual or work experience, up to a maximum of ten years. Verification of outside experience is the responsibility of the employee. For details, refer to the Certified Master Agreement on the district website.

Schedule

Part-time position: 20 hours per week, 9 months per year.
