General Summary

The teacher supports the Diocese of St. Augustine's mission to educate, evangelize, and catechize youth in a Catholic school environment. They must adhere to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and support the school's spiritual, pastoral, and educational mission.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Recognizes and supports the Catholic mission of the school by aligning with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Works collaboratively with the principal to build the faith community and participate in school religious and service-related activities.
  • Prepares lesson plans to achieve academic and religious goals, integrating Catholic religious curriculum.
  • Maintains physical and informational security, respecting confidentiality and privacy.
  • Adheres to diocesan and school policies and regulations, supporting the school's mission.
  • Demonstrates effective planning and communication skills, engaging and motivating students.
  • Establishes and manages classroom behavior, setting high standards for student conduct.
  • Participates in continuous professional development as a lifelong learner.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and registered member of a Catholic parish faith community (preferred).
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum of Professional Educator certification in the State of Florida.
  • Basic Diocesan Ministry Certification within two years.
  • Respect for, promotion, accommodation, and non-conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic faith.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Pass required criminal background check and Protecting God’s Children (PGC) workshop prior to employment.
  • Proficient in computer technology, including school-related software.
  • Flexibility in assessing needs and adapting strategies.
  • Positive, friendly, respectful, and caring attitude with colleagues, the public, and all served.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various documents and instructions.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from diverse groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percents and draw and interpret bar graphs.
