About the role

The dual-language teacher delivers instruction in Spanish for the majority of the day, improving student success in academics through implementing District-approved curriculum, documenting progress, developing lesson plans, and providing a safe, optimal learning environment. Preference will be given to applicants with work or lived experience with culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse communities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, music, physical education, and health education using district and school goals and objectives
  • Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, literacy, numeracy, and other state-mandated elements
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for individualized and small-group instruction
  • Lead students through the development and evaluation of work samples
  • Administer Oregon Statewide Assessments, including preparation, logistics, and security
  • Monitor classroom and playground activities to ensure a safe, positive learning environment
  • Plan and coordinate the work of educational assistants or paraprofessionals
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, maintaining appropriate records and reports
  • Develop and use multimedia instructional materials for students with varying learning needs
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a functional learning environment
  • Communicate with parents through various means and hold conferences to discuss student progress
  • Participate in in-service training, curriculum development, and professional organizations
  • Collaborate with staff to assess and address student health, attitude, and learning problems
  • Supervise and evaluate student teachers assigned to the classroom
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy
  • Participate in meetings (e.g., parent conferences, site meetings) and present a positive image to the community
  • Share in the sponsorship of student activities

Requirements

  • State of Oregon Teaching License with Elementary Multiple Subjects PK-12 endorsement
  • Current First Aid Card
  • Fully bilingual and biliterate in English/Spanish
  • ESOL endorsement preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students
  • Understanding of and ability to relate to students of diverse ethnic, cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Skills in planning, developing, and implementing curriculum
  • Knowledge of instructional theory, best practices, and education laws, regulations, and policies
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, lift/carry/reach, and maintain records
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certificates
  • Blood-borne pathogen training (as appropriate)

Pay

2026-2027 annual salary range: $53,165 – $110,484 (195-day contract). Initial placement on the salary schedule is based on education and contracted licensed experience. Eligible for specialty stipends:

  • $3,023 for the 2026-2027 school year (position-specific stipend)
  • $2,000 if certified multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian (must pass a standardized proficiency test)
