About the Role
The Teacher Elementary Title I Achievement and Behavior Support provides instructional and behavioral support to identified Title I students in an elementary school setting. This role involves individualized planning, collaboration with staff and families, and facilitating full participation of Title I students in the academic program. The school plans to hire three teachers from this posting.
Responsibilities
- Administer assessments, district and/or state tests to evaluate Title I student competency levels and develop individual learning and behavior plans.
- Deliver an instructional program to improve student success in academics through a defined course of study.
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians on Title I student progress, behavioral goals, and achievements, including methods for improvement and reinforcement at home.
- Analyze test data and plan instructional responses to enhance student achievement.
- Assess student progress toward objectives, grade-level expectations, and goals, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration, and seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources (e.g., PTA, business partners) to improve Title I student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
- Counsel Title I students and connect them with appropriate resources to improve academic and behavioral performance.
- Create student behavioral and academic plans to support Title I student learning.
- Demonstrate support for building and district initiatives to maximize a collaborative approach to district goals.
- Direct paraprofessionals, volunteers, and/or student workers to provide an effective learning environment and address individual Title I student needs.
- Facilitate daily monitoring of Title I student achievement and behaviors to ensure academic success.
- Facilitate Title I student learning to achieve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson and behavior plans.
- Maintain confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic files and records, ensuring up-to-date information and compliance with administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment in adherence with district policies.
- Model appropriate behaviors and responsibility to demonstrate appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
- Monitor students in various educational environments (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participate in meetings (e.g., PLC, staff, PTA) as assigned to convey and gather required information.
- Prepare written materials (e.g., behavior plans, grades, attendance, progress reports) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Provide direct services to Title I students whose behaviors significantly interfere with their academic growth in core content areas.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to inquiries from teachers, students, parents, and administrators to resolve issues, provide information, and offer direction.
- Perform other related duties to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
- Missouri State Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education 1-6.
- Bachelor’s degree in a job-related area.
- Job-related experience is required.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Skills
- Knowledge: Perform basic math, read technical information, compose documents, facilitate discussions, and analyze situations. Specific knowledge includes: appropriate codes, policies, regulations, and laws; age-appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; and behavioral management strategies.
- Skills: Perform multiple, highly complex technical tasks, including applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment and software, and preparing accurate records. Requires routine skill upgrades to meet changing job conditions.
- Abilities: Schedule activities, meetings, and events; gather, collate, and classify data; use job-related equipment. Flexibility to work with diverse individuals and data, adapt to changing priorities, maintain confidentiality, exhibit tact and patience, and work flexible hours. Problem-solving abilities to analyze issues and create action plans, including independent interpretation of guidelines.
Working Conditions
- Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and fine finger dexterity. The job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing.
- Work environment may involve temperature extremes and exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
- Responsibilities include working under limited supervision, directing personnel within a small work unit, and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required.
