About the role

The classroom Teacher is a cornerstone of Lawrence Public Schools. As an English Teacher at the Wetherbee School, you will enrich the academic lives of students by delivering a standards-based, rigorous instructional program focused on academic achievement and the development of 21st-century skills.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility to be a strong, positive force daily in the classroom by consistently and thoughtfully motivating students to work hard and want to learn.
• Design, implement, and collaborate on high-quality shared curricula that incorporate research-based strategies to help students master Massachusetts and Common Core standards.
• Motivate students to reach high achievement by setting class-wide and individual goals, and provide specific, actionable feedback on their progress toward academic goals.
• Build supportive working relationships with fellow teachers, associate teachers, and staff, and provide regular feedback to help develop associate teachers.
• Perform other responsibilities as needed and assigned by administration.

Requirements

• Massachusetts Teacher Certification in the appropriate area.
• Bachelor’s Degree (required).
• Proficient in English.
• Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).

Skills

• Prior experience teaching English (preferred).
• Ability to implement a safe, purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning for all students.
• Ability to collaborate with other teachers, instructional leaders, and partners to ensure instruction meets the needs of all students.

Pay

$61,788 to $96,114 depending on experience and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a required background check and availability of funding.
