About the Role

As a Teacher (Computer Applications), you will provide instruction at the professional level in various settings, including as a classroom teacher, team teacher, or remedial/special services teacher. You will plan, implement, and evaluate instructional activities under established guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare yearly instructional outlines and daily lesson plans covering relevant units of study, specifying objectives, activities, and evaluative methods for both group and individual programs.
• Teach students by selecting, developing, adapting, and implementing appropriate instructional methods and techniques using available resources to ensure academic achievement.
• Provide learning experiences in assigned subject areas that develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills tailored to the needs and interests of all students.
• Continuously evaluate individual and group academic progress using criterion-referenced tests, periodic standardized tests, oral tests, and other relevant evaluative methods.
• Use alternative instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Make progress reports to parents and confer with parents and other concerned individuals.
• Maintain required records in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Maintain control of assigned class and handle discipline independently, except for chronic or extreme behavior problems.
• Counsel individual students within established guidelines, using background information to provide an effective instruction-learning cycle related to students' behavior and progress.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act.
• A background security investigation will be required for all new hires; appointment is subject to successful completion and favorable adjudication.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, as the incumbent may be required to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle as an incidental duty.
• Must possess and maintain valid Teacher licensure/certification in the State where the position is located and in the specialty field identified by the position.
• This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
• Probationary period of one academic year (two full academic semesters) during which fitness and continued employment will be evaluated.
• Initial appointments under Public Law 95-561 do not confer competitive nor career status.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet the education and licensure requirements described below:

• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited educational institution.
• All professional educators must possess a valid Teacher certification/licensure in the appropriate endorsement area. Emergency and provisional certificates may be accepted under the conditions issued by the State certification authority.
• Applicants with valid State Certification in a state other than where the position is located may be considered. If selected, they will be issued a provisional contract requiring full State Teacher Certification within two full contract terms.

To meet the education requirements, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts (official or unofficial). Advisement or web-printouts are not acceptable. Official transcripts are required upon selection. Ensure transcripts are not locked or encrypted and all pages (including the transcript key) are viewable.

Education must have been obtained from an accredited or pre-accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For foreign education, credentials must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. education program.

Pay

Pay setting is based on degree and having 24 hours in education, determined after the selection process. Pay levels are as follows:

• Pay Level 11: Bachelor’s Degree
• Pay Level 12: Bachelor’s Degree and 15 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 13: Bachelor’s Degree and 30 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 14: Master’s Degree
• Pay Level 15: Master’s Degree and 15 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 16: Master’s Degree and 30 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 17: Earned Doctorate

Education must be in coursework related to the topic being taught or general teaching methodologies. Experience is considered for determining pay increments, including paid and unpaid experience (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). The maximum number of years creditable for pay setting is 17. Per-hour rates for Teacher positions will be modified based on the school calendar for the location (Modified Hourly/Date Rate - MHR/MDR).
