About the role

Establishes clear goals and objectives related to the School Improvement Plan. Plans and prepares lessons, assignments, and instructional materials. Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques. Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning objectives. Counsels pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise. Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and provides input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and prepares lessons, assignments, and instructional materials.
  • Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques.
  • Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning objectives.
  • Counsels pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise.
  • Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and provides input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives and methods.
  • Improves skill and knowledge base in current trends, research and methodology in instructional techniques, technology, multicultural content, problem solving and interdisciplinary connections.
  • Plays a supportive role in the supervision of instructional assistants, teacher assistants, and volunteers.
  • Serves on special committees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of school organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research and materials of instruction in field of specialization.
  • Skills: Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to infuse technology into curriculum. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school board staff, students, parents and community. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
  • Other Characteristics: Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations. Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.

Skills
