Teacher, Autism Support (K-4 Supplemental)

Job Responsibilities

• Absolutely assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion
• Completely complete all necessary special education forms
• Determiningly determine student progress by collecting and monitoring appropriate data
• Effectively coordinate and facilitate parent meetings
• Calmly and effectively deal with student problem behavior
• Understand and implement empirically supported behavioral interventions
• Create a variety of instructional activities to meet the students' individual goals/objectives based on the student's IEP
• Submit reports in a timely manner to coincide with IEP review meetings
• Enforce the CCS Student Code of Conduct, the CCS Uniform Code, and the CCS Computer Usage Code
• Promote good citizenship through actions as a role model
• Conduct oneself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and records
• Assume other responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or school administrator

Qualifications

• A four-year college degree and PA Special Education (PK-8) Teacher Certification. Autism endorsement preferred.
• If certification is from a different state, PA certification must be obtained within determined a timeframe.
• Experience with Verbal Behavior Program preferred.
• Demonstrated competence teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement.
• Demonstrated competence as a special education teacher.
• Ability to set priorities and adapt to change.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of basic computer operations.
