Job Responsibilities
- Absolutely assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion
- Completely complete all necessary special education forms
- Determiningly determine student progress by collecting and monitoring appropriate data
- Effectively coordinate and facilitate parent meetings
- Calmly and effectively deal with student problem behavior
- Understand and implement empirically supported behavioral interventions
- Create a variety of instructional activities to meet the students' individual goals/objectives based on the student's IEP
- Submit reports in a timely manner to coincide with IEP review meetings
- Enforce the CCS Student Code of Conduct, the CCS Uniform Code, and the CCS Computer Usage Code
- Promote good citizenship through actions as a role model
- Conduct oneself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and records
- Assume other responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or school administrator
Qualifications
- A four-year college degree and PA Special Education (PK-8) Teacher Certification. Autism endorsement preferred.
- If certification is from a different state, PA certification must be obtained within determined a timeframe.
- Experience with Verbal Behavior Program preferred.
- Demonstrated competence teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement.
- Demonstrated competence as a special education teacher.
- Ability to set priorities and adapt to change.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of basic computer operations.
