Teacher Assistant, Wildwood School

About the role

The Teaching Assistant at Wildwood School will assist students with specialized instructional programs, monitor student activities, attend to physical needs, and assist with clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assists students, individually or in groups, with specialized instructional programs prepared by the teacher.
• Aids in the development and use of instructional resources, materials, and equipment.
• Maintains order and monitors students' activities in various settings.
• Supports teachers in clerical tasks such as attendance taking, lunch money collection, and organizing materials.
• Learns and implements behavior management strategies to enhance student participation.
• Provides assistance with personal needs and assists with de-escalation techniques as necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• NYS Teaching Assistant Certification or eligibility to complete the requirements for and maintain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to drive and transport students as required by the program.
• Completion and use of CALM training provided by the school.

Qualifications

• Must have daily access to a personal vehicle.
• Must be able to drive students when the program requires it.
• Must complete and use CALM training provided by the school.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary range of $20.70/hr- $31.50/hr plus an Elite Benefit package.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is a 10 month school year plus a 6 week Summer Program.
