Teacher Assistant-Student Mentor

Location: Syracuse Jr High. Position is open until filled.

About the Role

Under the supervision of the principal or other supervisor, the teacher assistant assists the teacher with the conduct of a class. This is a student mentor position focused on assisting students failing core classes, monitoring student academic success, and completing other responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare class materials
• Correct and record assignments
• Assist students failing core classes
• Monitor student academic success
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent education and/or experience
• The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate's degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test
• Interpersonal and communication skills
• Secretarial/clerical skills, including ability to operate a computer (may be required)

Pay

Salary Grade 3: $17.24 per hour. Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase.

Schedule

5.9 hours per day / 174 days per year. This position is for the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
