About the role
The special education teacher assistant supports the implementation of student IEP's by assisting the teacher in five areas of service: instructional support, management and supervision support, personal support, assessment support, and materials management.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the implementation of student IEP's
- Provides instructional support
- Supports management and supervision
- Offers personal support
- Supports assessment activities
- Maintains materials and resources
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- District inservice training (required after hiring)
- Basic knowledge of academic subjects
- Substitution or equivalent experience preferred
- Specific skills required depend on the assignment, student's needs, and IEP
- For Title One Schools: Equivalent of two years full-time education at an institution of higher education or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test
Pay
$20.98 per hour (Support Salary Table 2026-2027) [Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase]
