Position Summary

Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a state licensed program. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises a group of children.
  • Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Adheres to YMCA and state (Early Education & Care, EEC) standards including safety and cleanliness.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  • Follows YMCA and EEC policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor team settings.
  • Ability to work as an efficient team member of the preschool team.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children.
  • At least 18 years of age preferred.
  • Child CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
  • EEC trainings within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
