Teacher Assistant - Head Start (Greensboro)

Job Responsibilities

• Aid in planning and implementing lesson plans aligned with Head Start guidelines
• Engage children in play-based learning, reading, and hands-on activities
• Observe and assess children's development to inform individualized learning plans
• Model and encourage positive social-emotional behaviors and problem-solving skills
• Safeguard the classroom environment by supervising children and maintaining cleanliness
• Organize and prepare materials for daily routines and activities
• Communicate regularly with families about children's progress
• Participate in parent meetings and conferences
• Attend training sessions and workshops as required
• Maintain accurate and confidential records
• Interact positively and think critically
• Arrive punctually and meet all deadlines

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• CDA (Child Development Associate) credential, Associate’s degree, or relevant coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in an early childhood education setting
• Passionate about working with young children and supporting their growth
• Cultural competency and ability to work effectively with diverse families
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience in relationship building
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to various MRDC locations
• Pass criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Pass all Maryland licensing requirements, including medical evaluation and tuberculosis screening

Physical Demands

• Classroom setting with young children (ages 3-5)
• Occasional home visits or community engagement activities
• Significant periods of standing, walking, kneeling, sitting, and crouching
• May lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Perform in a typical school environment
