Teacher Assistant - Elliot Child Care Center - Per Diem

Elliot Child Care Center is an employee-sponsored Early Care and Education program exclusively for children of Elliot Hospital employees. The center is recognized for its high-quality child-development program, featuring low teacher turnover, favorable teacher-child ratios, and well-equipped classrooms and playgrounds. Serving children aged 6 weeks through 6 years year-round, the team brings over 300 years of combined teaching experience, ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment for all children and families.

About the Role

The Assistant Teacher supports the daily operation of the Elliot Child Care Center by assisting Associate and Lead Teachers in creating a warm, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children. As child advocates, teachers collaborate to provide a safe, respectful, and professional setting where children can grow and develop at their own pace.

Responsibilities

• Engage positively with children, families, and coworkers throughout the day.
• Supervise children to ensure a safe environment.
• Use a developmentally appropriate approach to guide children’s behavior.
• Attend to the basic needs of children, including feeding infants, changing diapers, and hygiene.
• Maintain cleaning and sanitation of classrooms and shared spaces.
• Follow all NH Child Care Licensing Regulations, including certifications, background checks, and ongoing professional development.
• Attend staff meetings, family events, and emergency drills as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age with appropriate employment documentation.
• Experience working with young children in settings such as childcare, babysitting, or camp counseling.
• NH Early Childhood Credential preferred or must apply for credential within 12 months of hire.
• Compliance with NH Child Care Licensing Unit requirements for continuing education training hours.
