Position Title: Teacher/Instructional Assistant
Reports To: Principal and Teacher/Bus Supervisor
Term of Employment: 10 Months (School Year Calendar)
Supervises: No one
Performance Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated annually by the school principal and the bus supervisor

Education/Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or 2 years (min. 48 semester hrs.) of higher education
• Must be eligible for school bus driver's license (CDL)

Responsibilities

Instructional Support

• Assist teachers in delivering small-group instruction
• Reinforce classroom lessons and learning activities under the direction of the classroom teacher
• Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher
• Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
• Utilize technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning

Student Supervision and Safety

• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, buses, and during school activities
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment
• Monitor student behavior and implement school-wide expectations and procedures
• Respond appropriately to student needs and emergencies
• Help ensure the physical safety and emotional well-being of all students

Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, administrators, and other support staff
• Participate in professional learning and staff meetings as assigned
• Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding student needs and progress
• Support school initiatives and contribute positively to the school culture

Transportation Support

• Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements or be willing to obtain one upon employment
• Serve as a substitute bus driver as needed to ensure the safe transportation of students
• Maintain all required certifications and training related to school bus operation

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist with arrival, dismissal, and other school-wide duties
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee

Pay

Starting Pay: NC04, $16.83 (subject to changes)
