About the role
Lifesteps is a non-profit, human services organization serving Western Pennsylvania for over 100 years, helping individuals and families with life's changing needs. The Agency provides programs and services for children of all abilities with early care and education needs. Lifesteps is hiring for an Assistant Group Supervisor (also known as Teacher Aide / Child Care Assistant) at the Children's Services center in Butler, PA. The position is initially described as part-time, Monday‑Friday daylight hours, but the schedule details indicate a full‑time shift of 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with weekends and holidays off.
Responsibilities
- Care and supervision of children ages 6 weeks to 5 years
- Assist with lesson planning
- Create activities
- Supervise playtime
- Provide a nurturing environment
- Update parents about the child's day
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of experience working with children (paid or unpaid, e.g., summer camps, church nursery, babysitting, Bible school, volunteering)
- Ability to lift or move up to 30 pounds without assistance
- Ability to provide acceptable state clearances
- Able to multi‑task and work in a team environment
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Human Services
- Preferred: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Human Services
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm; weekends and holidays off.
