About the role
Within the team structure, the Teacher Assistant provides quality preschool services for children enrolled in the Early Care and Learning program.
Responsibilities
- Interactions with Children and Families (80%): Provide direct support and engagement with children and their families.
- Staff Relationships (10%): Collaborate effectively with colleagues and team members.
- Administrative Functions (10%): Complete required documentation and administrative tasks.
- Assure general maintenance and security of facility and assist with inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Active engagement in parent meetings; including participation, oral presentations, planning, and set up of materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, including 3 semester units of Infant & Toddler Development. Internal CCRC applicants may alternatively meet this requirement by the successful completion of the Teacher Aide Apprenticeship program.
- Certifications:
- Must have a current Teacher Assistant Permit or above based on the California Teacher Credential (CTC) Matrix. Individuals who do not yet hold a current permit and are pending receipt may be considered for hire if they provide documentation confirming the permit application has been officially submitted and is pending review through the CTC. Documentation must show a submitted application status; payment receipts or preliminary steps alone do not meet this requirement. Those pending receipt of the permit must receive it within 3 months (90 days) of hire.
- Must hold a valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
- Technical Skills: Must have intermediate technology skills specifically using Zoom, Outlook, Microsoft Suites, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn additional platforms related to the program.
- Knowledge: Basic knowledge of standard teaching practices, effective instructional strategies, Community Care Licensing, and all other applicable regulations.

- Ability to supervise children and ensure a safe environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and on field trips.

Schedule
- The Teacher Assistant works full time 40 hours a week. Overtime may be expected.
- May work a non-traditional work schedule including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the program.
Work environment
This position works in an Early Care and Learning Center. The Early Care and Learning Center includes Early Learning classrooms for children ages Birth to 5 years old, outside playgrounds and play structures, and may include regular office space and/or storage areas at larger centers. School year center assignments can vary depending on business needs.
Pay
Expected Hourly Pay Rate $20.00
