Teacher Assistant

About This Role

Hunger Mountain Children's Center, a non-profit child care and preschool, is seeking an energetic Teacher Assistant/Floater to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a reliable and motivated educator to work with children from infants to age five in a play-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Cover for teachers during breaks, vacations, sick days, planning time, etc.
• Ensure safety of classroom and children at all times
• Help children maintain healthy hygiene and change diapers
• Communicate and build relationships with children and families
• Help manage the appearance and cleanliness of the facility
• Abide by Vermont Licensing Regulations

Requirements

• The candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma.
• We are willing to train the right individual.

Nice to Haves

• The ideal candidate will have completed the state's Fundamentals in Early Childhood Education class or a 3 credit course in early childhood education - or able to complete the class within 6 months
• An added bonus would be an Early Childhood Apprenticeship Certificate, Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or qualify as a Teacher or Teacher Associate through VT licensing regulations, which would qualify for a higher salary.
