Job Summary
The Teacher Apprentice role is designed for individuals pursuing a career in education who are actively enrolled in a teacher preparation program. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the classroom while working under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role supports the development of teaching skills, classroom management strategies, and professional growth in a structured and supportive environment. Based on your education and experience, you can be placed as an academic support teacher apprentice or a teacher apprentice in a classroom (teacher of record).
Key Responsibilities
- Complete lesson planning, lead instruction, and manage classroom environment.
- Provide support to students individually or in small groups to enhance learning outcomes.
- Lead classroom activities under the guidance and supervision of the mentor teacher.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development sessions as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to student progress and classroom activities.
- Actively engage in reflective practices to improve teaching strategies and student outcomes.
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Attend all required Teacher Apprentice Program training
Qualifications
- Education:
- Actively enroll in an accredited teacher preparation program.
- Must provide college or High school Transcript, Program of Studies and Degree Plan.
- Progress Requirements:
- Demonstrate consistent progress in the teacher preparation program.
- Must remain actively enrolled in good standing.
- Submit transcripts each semester.
- Provide Midterm grades by due date requested.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and administrators.
- Willingness to learn and implement new teaching methods.
- Organized, dependable, and committed to professional growth.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with classroom technologies and educational tools.
Working Conditions
- Primarily based in a classroom environment.
- May require occasional after-school or weekend commitments for meetings or events.
