Teacher Aide (Special Education)
About the Role
The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks a Teacher Aide to join our special education department at the Dobbs Ferry High School. The successful candidate has proven experience working with students with special needs. Effective approximately September 16, 2026, this is a full-time probationary/permanent civil service position.
Responsibilities
- Under general supervision of a certified teacher or school administrator, perform non-instructional duties to assist certified teachers in a classroom setting
- Duties may vary depending upon student-specific needs
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk and sit
- Regularly required to climb, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Regularly required to reach above the head and reach forward
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel or handle objects, tools, or controls, and to talk and hear
- Occasionally required to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds
About Our Special Education Program
We are focused on building an increasingly inclusive environment through an expansion of our continuum of services in general education and specialized program settings, through the ongoing development of exciting student opportunities including unified sports; and by offering expansive professional development including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training for our instructional and support staff. We are seeking exceptional candidates to join our team in this work.
Pay
- $26,347 - $32,919 annual wage per contract CSEA Clerical, Teacher Aide/Teaching Assistant
- Additional compensation in the amount of $4.00 per hour for toileting duties
