Responsibilities
- Provides quality, developmentally appropriate social/emotional and learning experiences for young children.
- Involves parents as partners in their children's learning by providing current information and support.
- Maintains a positive learning environment that reflects the school's philosophy.
- Provides nurturing and assistance to children in the classroom to ensure an enriching, safe, and clean classroom and playground environment.
- Aids in the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum to ensure a stimulating learning experience.
- Supervises children during arrival, dismissal, playground time, and lunch to ensure children are safe and accounted for at all times.
- Communicates with parents, coordinators, and other primary caregivers to ensure a positive, participating environment.
- Serves as a substitute teacher to ensure that assistance and support are provided to the students at all times.
- Prepares classroom learning materials and displays to ensure appropriate learning support materials are available at all times.
- Makes arrangements for children to participate in activities to provide them with an enhanced learning experience.
Requirements
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Ability to lift, bend, carry, and put down up to fifty (50) pounds on a continuous basis.
- Repetitive lifting and placing down of children required.
- Ability to sit on the floor for extended periods of time.
- Successful completion of the FDLE Background Screening.
- Completion of the on-line Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training (4-hour course).
- Completion of the state mandated Early Literacy for Children Birth to Three childcare trainings (5-hour course).
- Completion of yearly in-service trainings provided by the NSU University School Preschool.
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age to apply.
- Previous experience in the field of early childhood.
- Preferred qualifications include previous experience in parent education and support, familiarity with appropriate child development issues, and knowledge of parent education.

Pay
The hiring range for this position is $15.75/hour.
Schedule
The pay basis for this position is hourly.
