Teacher Aide -Heim Middle School

About the Role

The Williamsville Central School District is seeking Teacher Aides to support students in grades 5-8 across various curricular areas. This non-competitive Civil Service position involves working 25 hours per week (10:05 AM - 3:35 PM, inclusive of a ½ hour unpaid lunch) for 10 months per school year. Aides may work in life skills classrooms, job coaching, or with special needs students, and may be required to provide personal care, including toileting and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to reinforce classroom instruction.
• Assist with communication devices, toileting, diapering, and other personal care tasks as needed.
• Monitor students in the cafeteria.
• Perform general teacher aide duties, including assisting with classroom materials, equipment, and record-keeping.
• Support teachers in conducting examinations, grading assignments, and preparing instructional materials.
• Assist with technical operations, such as audio-visual equipment, language laboratory equipment, and science laboratory setup.
• Provide musical accompaniment or read to students as required.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Superintendent of Schools or their designee.

Requirements

• Positive attitude, flexibility, dependability, enthusiasm, and patience.
• At least 1 year of experience working with school-aged children.
• Preferred: Experience working with elementary students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• OR four (4) years of experience and knowledge in a particular field where specialized duties are involved.
• OR an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
• Ability to establish good relationships with students, teachers, and others.
• Ability to maintain order, enforce school regulations, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Familiarity with classroom routines and specialized fields where applicable.
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Pay

Starting pay rate: $18.90/hour. Hourly stipends apply as follows:

• Split aide, UPK aide, Literacy aide, Primary Project aide, Health aide, Attendance aide: $0.50/hour.
• PPS aide, Job coach aide: $1.50/hour.

Schedule

25 hours/week (5 hours/day, 10:05 AM - 3:35 PM, inclusive of a ½ hour unpaid lunch), 10 months per school year.
