About the Role
Provides quality, developmentally appropriate social/emotional and learning experiences for young children. Engages parents as partners in their children's learning by providing current information and support. Maintains a positive learning environment that reflects the school's philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Provides nurturing and assistance to children in the classroom to ensure an enriching, safe, and clean environment.
- Assists in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for a stimulating learning experience.
- Supervises children during arrival, dismissal, playground time, and lunch to ensure safety and accountability.
- Communicates with parents, coordinators, and caregivers to foster a positive, participatory environment.
- Serves as a substitute teacher to ensure continuous support for students.
- Prepares classroom learning materials and displays to support educational activities.
- Monitors and coordinates activities to enhance children's learning experiences.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Complete a 4-hour online Child Abuse and Neglect Training prior to the first day of employment.
- Register and complete Early Literacy Child Care Training during the first week of employment.
- Register for the 45-hour Child Care Licensing training within the first week of employment and complete it within the first year.
- Employees without a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field must enroll in a CDA/CDAE or an associate/higher-level degree program within 90 days and complete it within one year.
- Attend and complete designated in-service trainings, including yearly state-mandated training hours.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions; punctual and reliable.
Skills
- Ability to lift, bend, carry, and put down up to 50 pounds continuously.
- Ability to repeatedly lift and place down children.
- Ability to sit on the floor for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 & 20-hour Child Care Training Certificates.
- Previous experience working with children.
