About the role
Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Order, collect, process routine and specialty testing, and return results back to doctors.
- Obtain, process doctors' orders, and perform data entry.
- Provide excellent customer service on the phone, with patients, doctors, and other medical staff.
- Work well under pressure, especially during high-volume periods.
- Collect blood samples, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling.
- Follow clinic and hospital policies and procedures for transporting and delivering samples to the laboratory.
- Knowledge of handling laboratory supplies and restocking supplies.
- Ensure patients receive appropriate, competent, and quality clinical care and meet their expectations for customer service.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Provide age-appropriate care.
- Report, monitor, and manage patient and staff incidents.
- Monitor and manage patient and physician satisfaction.
- Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Knowledge and performance of sterile techniques.
- Maintain, develop, and utilize professional relationships with a wide range of organizations and specialists.
- Maintain effective working relationships with nursing, clerical, medical, and allied health staff.
- Perform special tests such as clotting times, bleeding times, and glucose tolerance tests and report results to other lab personnel.
- Maintain strict quality control for procedures.
- Organize requisitions received for collection.
- Keep records of tests performed.
- Scan orders and lab results into the electronic medical system, print, and fax lab reports to the ordering doctor.
- Maintain Point of Care documents and perform Quality Control management.
- Orient and mentor new staff members.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Graduation from an accredited Health Sciences program or higher.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certificate/license.
- Phlebotomy course and phlebotomy experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in collecting correct blood samples and other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling.
- Knowledge of handling laboratory supplies and restocking supplies.

- Knowledge of standard precautions and personal protective equipment.
