Tax Verification Internship Spring 2027
About the Role
Withum is seeking 2029 graduates for our Verification Internship. As a verification intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting tax professionals through technology-driven solutions. This internship is conducted in person and will run from late January through mid-April 2027.
Responsibilities
- Utilize software called SurePrep that uses 1040SCAN and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology and verify efficiency of the software’s operations.
- Verify and input 1040 tax data submitted by clients and scanned into software.
- Focus on details and accuracy of the software’s functionality to successfully prepare tax documents for clients.
- Help maximize efficiency in the 1040SCAN software to facilitate paperless tax workflow.
- Provide solutions to errors in 1040SCAN operations to ensure effective results from the software.
- Utilize XCM to ensure proper distribution of completed work to the appropriate person to create efficiency in the completion of tax projects.
- Work with the tax department workflow and document storage tools.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in person.
- Flexible work hours to balance with school workload/schedule.
- Must be able to work at least 20 hours per week.
- Accounting majors preferred.
- Graduation date in 2029 preferred.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Commitment to working with others in a team to make an impact.
Pay
For positions in California, the compensation for this position ranges from $20-25 per hour. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
