Tax Senior - Real Estate

Our cross-functional industry group includes over 2,800 partners, managers, and staff, offering assurance, advisory, tax, enterprise risk, regulatory, and consulting services to a broad range of investment management companies. Clients include investment advisers, administrators, investment managers, broker-dealers, banks, insurance companies, mutual funds, investment partnerships, hedge funds, private equity, alternative products, and other money managers.
Responsibilities
- Perform detail-level reviews of partnership work papers, allocations, and tax returns.
- Prepare materials and conduct research for consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities.
- Coordinate and communicate with client contacts to gather information for tax return completion.
- Train, mentor, and supervise new and experienced tax staff.
- Attend required Deloitte Tax LLP and sector-specific trainings.
- Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for various entities and their affiliates.
Requirements
- Ability to work within a hybrid model, co-locating in person 2–3 days per week.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field.
- 3+ years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing client work papers and income tax returns.
- Basic understanding of Subchapter K, partnership allocation methodologies, and the tax compliance process for real estate funds.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%, based on client and industry needs.
- One of the following active accreditations (or in process, or ability and willingness to obtain):
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office (if eligible to sit for the CPA).
- Licensed attorney (if not CPA eligible).
- Enrolled Agent.
- Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA).
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree such as a Master’s in Taxation, JD, and/or LLM.
- Experience working in a virtual and/or global environment.
- Passion for leveraging technology and exploring new solutions.
- Experience with accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including listening, interpersonal, and facilitation abilities.
Pay
The wage range for this role is $74,925 to $153,000, taking into account factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. Compensation decisions depend on individual and organizational performance. You may also be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to program rules.
