Tax Senior - Real Estate
Work within an engagement team and draw on your experience in accounting and taxation to provide tax compliance and consulting services to investment management clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates.
Responsibilities
- Perform detail-level reviews of partnership work papers, allocations, and tax returns as well as prepare materials and research for consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities.
- Coordinate and communicate with client contacts to gather information required to complete their tax returns.
- Train, mentor, and supervise new and experienced-level tax staff.
- Attend required Deloitte Tax LLP and sector-specific trainings.

Clients include investment advisers, administrators, investment managers, broker-dealers, banks, insurance companies, mutual funds, investment partnerships, hedge funds, private equity, alternative products, and other money managers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
- 3+ years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing client work papers and income tax returns.
- Basic understanding of Subchapter K, partnership allocation methodologies, and the tax compliance process for real estate funds.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on client and industry needs.
- One of the following active accreditations (obtained, in process, or willing to obtain):
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office (if eligible to sit for the CPA).
- Licensed attorney (if not CPA eligible).
- Enrolled Agent.
- Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA).
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- Ability to work within a hybrid model, co-locating in person 2–3 days per week.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree such as Master of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Experience working in a virtual and/or global environment.
- Passion for leveraging technology and exploring new technology solutions.
- Experience with accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong listening, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
Pay
The wage range for this role is $74,925 to $153,000, taking into account skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to program rules, where awards depend on individual and organizational performance.
