Tax Senior Manager, ASC740

About the role

The Core Tax Services (“CTS”) Senior Manager – ASC740 advises clients on tax implications, evaluates alternative actions, and identifies methods to comply with tax regulations. This role involves marketing, networking, and business development, as well as providing written tax advice.

Responsibilities

• Tax Compliance
• Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
• Resolves tax issues with clients and specialist teams.
• Plans and reviews the tax process, including budgeting and staffing.
• Manages client relationships and expectations.
• Trains staff on research skills and ASC 740 tax issues.
• Manages tax accrual reviews, including budget, scope, and delivery dates.
• Reviews tax provisions and workpapers.
• Manages Specialized Tax Services (“STS”) as needed.
• ASC 740 (fka FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals
• Applies and explains ASC 740 and Firm policies.
• Communicates with Assurance team for timely tax accrual reviews.
• Manages and utilizes specialized software tools.
• Tax Consulting
• Develops and implements efficient methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing taxes.
• Serves as a technical resource and ensures compliance with Firm policies.
• Provides exam support and assists with client projects.
• Tax Specialization
• Develops in-depth understanding of specific areas of taxation.
• Organizes and conducts internal CPE training sessions.
• Trains and mentors managers/seniors/associates.
• Strategy Development
• Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to benefit clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel.
• Makes suggestions for improving previous work products or approaches.
• Presents complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.

Requirements

Eight (8) or more years of prior experience, required. Experience in managing ASC740 computations for both privately held and publicly traded clients, required. Prior supervisory experience, required. Multinational client experience, preferred. CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), required. Proficient in tax compliance process software, including GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers, preferred. Superior verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills, and decision-making abilities, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment and develop and manage a team of tax professionals. Executive presence and ability to act as a primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation, required. Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred.
• CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations).
• Software experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat, preferred.
• Experience with tax research databases such as BNA and RIA.
• Experience with tax compliance process software including GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers, preferred.
• Language proficiency not specified.
