Tax Senior - Indirect Tax - Sales and Use
About the role
The opportunity involves advising on indirect tax regulatory changes and supporting compliance and reporting needs for both public and private entities. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities for tax optimization, managing indirect tax strategies, implementing procedures and guidelines, analyzing complex tax operations, prioritizing tasks, and driving process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for tax optimization, credits, and refund recovery, as well as exposure reduction.
- Manage indirect tax strategies, compliance processes, remediation, controversies, and corrective filings.
- Support tax process reviews and technology transformation to enhance service offerings.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and the confidence to question existing processes.
- The willingness to travel as needed, and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in tax legislation and impact assessment.
- Proficiency in tax planning and optimization.
- Knowledge of audit quality and remediation techniques.
- Ability to drive process improvement and optimization.
- Experience in operating model design and analysis.
- Understanding of data quality, accounting principles, and standards.
- Skills in risk mitigation and data analysis/interpretation.
- Knowledge of tax compliance and reporting requirements.

Qualifications
- Achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, US Bar membership, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, or CMI designation.
- Experience assisting in completion of RFP responses.
- Experience tracking resource plans and budgets.
- Experience maintaining reports for engagement economics.

Pay
$81,700 to $135,000 base salary range for all geographic locations in the US. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento) is $98,100 to $153,500.
Schedule
Most people in external, client-serving roles are expected to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project, or year.
