Tax Senior - Indirect Tax - Sales and Use

About the role

Join EY and help to build a better working world. As a Sales and Use Tax Senior, you will advise on indirect tax regulatory changes and support compliance and reporting needs for both public and private entities. You will handle complex issues, devise strategic outcomes, and manage indirect taxes throughout the tax lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for tax optimization, credits, and refund recovery, as well as exposure reduction.
  • Manage indirect tax strategies, compliance processes, remediation, controversies, and corrective filings.
  • Support tax process reviews and technology transformation to enhance service offerings.

Requirements

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools. Technical writing and research experience in a tax context are also required.

  • Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment.
  • Expertise in tax legislation and impact assessment, tax planning and optimization, audit quality and remediation techniques, process improvement and optimization, data quality, accounting principles, and standards, risk mitigation, data analysis/interpretation, tax compliance and reporting requirements, sustainability drivers and mega trends, building and managing relationships, and demonstrating client trust and value.
  • Desired qualifications include an achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, US Bar membership, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation or CMI designation, experience assisting in completion of RFP responses, experience tracking resource plans and budgets, and experience maintaining reports for engagement economics.

Pay

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $81,700 to $135,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $98,100 to $153,500.

Schedule

Most people in external, client serving roles work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Employees are also granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support their well-being.
