About the role
We are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Tax Senior to join our growing tax department. In this role, you will prepare and review complex tax returns, conduct detailed tax research, and serve as a key advisor to clients while supervising junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and initial review of federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Perform deep-dive research on complex tax issues to ensure compliance and identify tax-saving opportunities for clients.
- Manage and mentor Tax Associates, providing guidance on technical issues and reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate tax engagements from start to finish, ensuring all deadlines are met and client deliverables are of the highest quality.
- Assist in tax planning and consulting projects, translating complex tax laws into actionable advice for stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's in Taxation (MST) is a plus.
- Active CPA license or significant progress toward completion.
- 2+ years of experience in public accounting.
- Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or Lacerte) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of current tax codes and regulations, including ASC 740 and state/local tax (SALT) issues.
