Job Summary
We are seeking a Tax Senior to join our High Net Worth (aka Family Wealth Services) practice group. This role involves preparing and performing technical reviews on high-net-worth individuals, related family partnerships, and trust tax returns to ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations. Responsibilities include preparing complex level tax returns, reviewing basic engagements, and calculating quarterly estimates and year-end tax planning.
Responsibilities
- Performing tax, gift, and estate compliance services to individuals, family limited partnerships, and trusts
- Continuously expanding individual, gift, trust, and estate tax knowledge, as well as overall professional development
- Technical reviews of individual tax returns
- Gathering data from customer and/or third-party sources
- Performing basic tax research to support tax return positions
- Resolving all open items/issues encountered on assigned engagements
- Actively monitoring engagement economics by managing budgets and seeking efficiencies
- Directing and controlling concurrent assignments to successful completion
- Developing and leading associates through engagements, delegating assignments and tasks when appropriate
- Providing honest, objective, and constructive feedback in a timely manner to associates
- Collaborating to identify and sell opportunities among existing customers
- Serving as a mentor through active participation in firm committees, departmental matters, and events
- Active in recruiting new and experienced associates
- Other duties within the scope of the practice
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law; Master’s degree in Tax/LLM in Tax, preferred
- 2+ years of recent public accounting firm experience
- Experience working with individual tax returns, Gift, trust, estate, and family limited partnership tax experience, a plus
- Significant progress toward EA License or CPA certification, preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective analytical and problem-solving ability
- Strong time and work management skills
