Tax Senior

About the Role

As a Tax Senior Accountant, you will prepare financial information for clients, including business and individual tax returns, while gaining exposure to a diverse client base across various industries. You will maintain client relationships, oversee internal staff, and work closely with firm leaders to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of tax engagements, including planning, preparation, and review of tax returns (individual, corporate, partnership, etc.).
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, addressing tax-related inquiries, providing recommendations, and fostering strong relationships.
• Collaborate with partners and managers to ensure seamless client service delivery and alignment with firm objectives.
• Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to develop proactive tax planning strategies, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
• Provide expert guidance on complex tax matters, including mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other business transactions.
• Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax-related matters, offering insights into their financial situations and potential tax implications.
• Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standards.
• Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions.
• Stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes to ensure compliance for the firm and its clients.
• Collaborate with other tax professionals to share insights, knowledge, and best practices.
• Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster professional growth.
• Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies to improve the firm’s tax services.
• May supervise subordinate team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 3 – 6 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in software such as CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, and Checkpoint for Tax Research.
• Experience in a professional service environment (e.g., CPA firm, financial consulting firm) is preferred.
• Actively working toward CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure or relevant certification, if not already attained.
• Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement.

• Professional office environment with minimal distractions.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
• Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client needs.
