Tax Senior
About the role
LegalZoom.com is seeking a Tax Senior to join our Finance team. We are looking for a highly-motivated professional with experience in income tax accounting as well as federal and state income tax compliance. This role involves assisting with researching tax issues, keeping up with changing legislation, and reporting to the Group Manager Tax with frequent interaction with the Finance department.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the ASC 740 quarterly and annual tax provision and related memos.
- Prepare compliance schedules and work with external tax advisors in review and filing of consolidated federal and multi-state tax returns.
- Assist with preparation of extensions and estimated tax payment calculations in coordination with others in the Tax Department.
- Conduct tax research to ensure compliance with changing regulations and rules.
- Provide support for various ad hoc tax projects, tax audits, notices, and other company initiatives.
- Compile state apportionment schedules.
- Work with process automation and AI initiatives to enhance process efficiencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field (must have taken specific courses related to taxation).
- CPA preferred but not required.
- 3–5 years’ experience in corporate taxation, with some experience in Public Accounting required.
- Experience with preparation of ASC 740 quarterly and annual tax provisions for a publicly traded company.
- Strong tax background in consolidated federal and multi-state returns preparation.
- Proficiency using ChatGPT or equivalent enterprise-grade AI tools.
- Experience with Intelliconnect or comparable online research platform.
Skills
- Excellent business writing and communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment while managing competing and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
Work Environment
LegalZoom supports a remote-friendly environment with flexibility and balance. While this position is remote, occasional in-person collaboration at our Austin, TX, Mountain View, CA, or Sherman Oaks, CA offices may be required.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $77,600 – $124,200. Actual compensation offered will depend on factors including geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and business needs. An annual bonus, incentive bonus, and/or restricted stock units may also be provided.
