Position Details
Title: Tax Senior Associate
Classification: Full-time; Exempt
Department: Tax
Location: Austin
Office Expectations/Hours: On site position; general work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 hours/day between 8am to 5pm with overtime, as needed.
What You Will Do
- Lead tax engagements, including planning and exciting tax engagements, managing client deadline expectations, completing returns, and managing budgets
- Review and/or prepare 1065, 1040, 1120, and 1120S tax returns, quarterly estimates, extensions and year-end projections
- Recommend tax strategies by researching federal, state and local taxation issues
- Maintain compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state and local authorities
- Develop and maintain a relationship with the client and proactively work with the client’s management to gather necessary tax information, identify issues, and make recommendations for business improvements
- Respond to IRS and state tax authority inquiries
- Supervise, train, and mentor Tax staff and interns, including the review of staff prepared workpapers and evaluative performances
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of tax process and Internal Revenue Code
- Aid with business proposals, networking, and recruiting opportunities
What You Need To Get Here
- 2+ years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax return complexity, scope and research
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; Master’s degree preferred
- Active CPA license or CPA eligibility
- Proficiency in use of technology and accounting programs
- Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles the Internal Revenue Code and other official tax laws, regulations and guidance
- A professional appearance and demeanor
- A comprehensive understanding of the tax preparation process
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to plan and execute multiple engagements and projects, simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing; actively listens and clearly communicates ideas and information
- Strong relationship building capabilities; ability to work respectfully and productively with diverse individuals in a variety of roles
