Key Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare and review individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120S, 1065, and other applicable federal and state tax filings.
- Ensure tax returns are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
- Maintain organized tax documentation and supporting workpapers.
- Tax Research & Advisory
- Research federal and state tax regulations to resolve complex tax issues.
- Provide clients with clear explanations and practical guidance regarding tax matters.
- Support year-round tax planning initiatives to identify tax-saving opportunities for individuals and businesses.
- Affiliate in developing proactive tax strategies that align with clients' financial goals.
- Client Relationship Management
- Communicate directly with clients to gather financial information and resolve tax-related questions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, professional service.
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Systems & Workflow Management
- Utilize professional tax preparation software and accounting platforms, such as Drake Tax, QuickBooks Online, or similar applications.
- Effectively manage multiple tax engagements while meeting deadlines during peak and non-peak tax seasons.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to internal quality standards.
- Required:
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or CPA license.
- Minimum 2 years of professional tax preparation experience.
- Experience preparing both individual and business tax returns.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations.
- Ability to independently manage tax engagements from preparation through completion.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax preparation software.
- PREFERRED:
- Experience with Drake Tax, QuickBooks Online, or comparable tax and accounting software.
- Experience providing tax planning and advisory services to small businesses.
- Public accounting firm experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
