Key Responsibilities

  • Tax Preparation & Compliance
    • Prepare and review individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120S, 1065, and other applicable federal and state tax filings.
    • Ensure tax returns are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
    • Maintain organized tax documentation and supporting workpapers.
  • Tax Research & Advisory
    • Research federal and state tax regulations to resolve complex tax issues.
    • Provide clients with clear explanations and practical guidance regarding tax matters.
    • Support year-round tax planning initiatives to identify tax-saving opportunities for individuals and businesses.
    • Affiliate in developing proactive tax strategies that align with clients' financial goals.
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Communicate directly with clients to gather financial information and resolve tax-related questions.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, professional service.
    • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Systems & Workflow Management
    • Utilize professional tax preparation software and accounting platforms, such as Drake Tax, QuickBooks Online, or similar applications.
    • Effectively manage multiple tax engagements while meeting deadlines during peak and non-peak tax seasons.
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to internal quality standards.

    Qualifications

    • Required:
      • Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or CPA license.
      • Minimum 2 years of professional tax preparation experience.
      • Experience preparing both individual and business tax returns.
      • Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations.
      • Ability to independently manage tax engagements from preparation through completion.
      • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax preparation software.
    • PREFERRED:
      • Experience with Drake Tax, QuickBooks Online, or comparable tax and accounting software.
      • Experience providing tax planning and advisory services to small businesses.
      • Public accounting firm experience.
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
