Tax Preparer

Seasonal, non-exempt role supporting Managed Operations under the Office Supervisor.

About the role

Tax Preparers prepare accurate individual and small-business tax returns, provide exceptional customer service, and stay current with tax regulations to help clients achieve financial success and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual and small-business tax returns accurately and efficiently.
• Review financial records (income statements, expenditure documentation) to determine required tax forms.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Provide outstanding customer service by addressing client concerns and questions promptly.
• Conduct client interviews to gather tax-situation information.
• Explain tax-return outcomes and offer tax-planning advice.
• Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations through ongoing education.
• Maintain organized, accurate records of client interactions and tax returns.
• Ensure all required documents are filed correctly and securely; follow up on missing information.
• Participate in training sessions and continuing education to maintain credentials.
• Work closely with other tax professionals and office staff to ensure seamless workflow.
• Assist in mentoring and training junior staff members.
• Support marketing execution.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in tax-preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• PTIN or eligibility to receive one.
• Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1–3 years of tax-preparation experience.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires working at a desk for extended periods.
• Some overtime and weekend work, especially during tax season.
